LINCOLN SQUARE — Neighborhood youngsters will Rally for Kindness in Lincoln Square's Giddings Plaza on President's Day.

The event is an opportunity for families to get together and do something positive, said organizer Erin Nitz.

A mom to a kindergartner and a one-and-a-half year-old, Nitz said she's been obsessed with the news lately, but with two small children at home, hasn't been able to participate in any of the protests or rallies that have taken place downtown.

"This is a chance to do something in our community ... something constructive," she said.

The rally will kick off at 10 a.m. in the plaza, 4731 N. Lincoln Ave., and will focus on positive messages of kindness, tolerance and respect, Nitz said.

She'll read the book "The Pumpkin and the Pantsuit" and staff from the Book Cellar will also read and lead the youngsters in song.

All are welcome, she said.
