WEST TOWN — On a bitter cold night, a Chicago Police officer was captured on a cell phone video as he comforted a sleeping woman with a blanket.

The minute-long video of the Near West Police District officer putting a blanket over the woman and tucking her into her wheelchair has been viewed more than 10,000 times in the first few hours of getting posted on the Chicago Police Dept.'s Facebook page.

"In this video officers from the 012th district cover a woman with a warm blanket as they determine how they can assist her on a cold night. Great job Officer Velasquez!" the department posted on Thursday.

The interaction took place in the 1600 block of West Chicago Avenue, at the intersection of Chicago and Ashland, police said.
