BUDLONG WOODS — Police have issued a community alert after reports of three strong-arm robberies in recent weeks in the Budlong Woods area of Lincoln Square.

The incidents have all occurred within the area bounded by Foster, Bryn Mawr, Western and California avenues.

The victims were approached by a thief or thieves who demanded their property, police said. When they refused, the victims were punched and robbed, police said.

The robberies occurred at:

• 8:30 a.m. Jan. 12 in the 5500 block of North California Avenue

• 4 a.m. Jan. 31 in the 5300 block of North Rockwell Avenue.. Four men were involved in this incident.

• 4 p.m. Saturday in the 2400 block of West Balmoral Avenue. The suspect is described as a black man age 20-25 who is 6 feet tall and weighs approximately 190 pounds.
