LOGAN SQUARE — A Logan Square man was mugged while walking to work about 7 a.m. Friday, police said.
About 7:15 a.m., the 35-year-old man was walking in the 2300 block of North Spaulding Avenue when a man came up to him and ordered him to walk to a nearby alley, according to Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police Department spokesman.
In the alley, the man told the victim he had a handgun, though he did not take one out, and demanded the victim's cellphone. The victim gave the man his phone, and the robber ran eastbound down the alley, Estrada said.
The victim was not injured.
Police described the robber as a white man, between 20-25 years old, weighing about 165 pounds, standing about 6 feet tall, wearing a dark orange skull cap, long black jacket and black hooded sweatshirt.
No arrests have been made, and detectives are investigating.
