CHICAGO — A 1-year-old pup helped scare off armed robbers at her foster home, her shelter said.
Thalia, an American Staffordshire mix rescued by PAWS Chicago, has been living with a foster family in Ukrainian Village while looking for a permanent home. Though normally quiet, Thalia "wouldn't stop barking at the door" at the foster home earlier this week, PAWS wrote on Facebook.
Thalia's foster mom was confused until the next day, when she ran into detectives and learned there had been armed robbers in the area, PAWS said.
"It's incredible the amount of love she shows to her foster family and she didn’t want anything to happen to them," the shelter wrote. "Now she's getting some well deserved rest and TLC!"
Thalia came to PAWS after Animal Care and Control found her as a stray, according to the shelter's website. The pup, who has a "puppy spirit with a playful attitude," is still up for adoption.
PAWS' website has information about how to adopt or foster Thalia and other dogs at the shelter.
