By Kelly Bauer | January 23, 2017 7:49am

CHICAGO — Four people were shot and wounded when they heard gunshots and tried to run away but instead ran toward several shooters on Sunday, police said.

At 12:15 p.m., the victims were inside a convenience store in the 1800 block of West 63rd Street when they heard shots, police said. Not knowing where the shots were coming from, the victims ran outside and saw four men with guns who fired shots at them.

A 26-year-old man was hit in his right eye, police said. A family member took him to St. Bernard Hospital and the man was transferred to Stroger Hospital, where he was in critical condition.

Another 26-year-old man was shot in his right buttocks and left foot, a 56-year-old woman was shot multiple times in her left leg and a 48-year-old woman was shot in her right hip, police said. They were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where their conditions were not available but they were listed as "stable," police said.

The shooters got into a white car and drove away, police said. No one was in custody.
