6 People Killed, 47 Wounded In Weekend Shootings, Police Say

CHICAGO — Shootings killed at least six people and wounded 47 over the weekend, police said.

One person was killed and 11 wounded just between Sunday and Monday morning.

• At 1:54 a.m. Monday, a 25-year-old woman was found shot to death in Austin.

In non-fatal shootings:

• At 1:23 a.m. Monday, a 24-year-old man was shot and wounded near the border of North Center and Lincoln Park.

• At 12:30 a.m., a 22-year-old man was shot in Portage Park.

• At 9:24 p.m. Sunday, a 16-year-old boy was shot in Bridgeport, police said. The boy was standing on the sidewalk in the 2800 block of South Hillock Avenue when he heard shots and felt pain.

The boy was hit in his right calf and a friend took him to Mercy Hospital, where his condition was not available but he was listed as "stable," police said.

The boy was a documented gang member, a police source said.

• At 12:15 p.m., four people were shot outside a convenience store in West Englewood. They heard gunshots and tried to run away but accidentally ran toward four shooters.

• At 11 a.m., a 27-year-old man was shot in Austin, police said. The man was driving in the 1100 block of North Lockwood Avenue when someone fired shots at him.

The man was hit in his left arm, left shoulder and left ear and was then involved in a crash where his car flipped over, police said. The man was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was not available but he was listed as "stable," police said.

• At 8:50 a.m., three men were shot in West Town, police said. The men were sitting inside a car in the 1500 block of West Huron Street when a white-colored car pulled alongside them and someone inside fired shots.

A 30-year-old man was shot twice in his upper left thigh and in his lower left leg, a 26-year-old man was shot in his lip and a 25-year-old man was shot in his shoulder, police said. They were taken to Stroger Hospital, where their conditions were not available but they were listed as "stable," police said.

No one was in custody in these shootings.

Shootings killed three people and wounded 23 between Saturday and Sunday, and two people were killed and 13 wounded in shootings between Friday and Saturday.

Also, at 10:45 p.m. Sunday, an 18-year-old man accidentally shot himself in West Humboldt Park, police said. The man was standing on the sidewalk in the 4200 block of West Iowa Street when someone fired shots at him. The man returned fire, but accidentally shot himself in the middle finger of his left hand.

The man took himself to Norwegian American Hospital, where his condition was not available but he was listed as "stable," police said.

The man was a documented gang member, a police source said.
