CHICAGO — Allante Elmore, 24, was shot to death Monday morning in Austin, officials said.
At 11:36 a.m., the man was on a porch in the 4800 block of West Hubbard Street when a car pulled up and someone inside fired shots, police said.
The man was hit multiple times and was taken to Stroger Hospital, police said.
Elmore, of the same block where he was killed, was pronounced dead at 12:30 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.
Dozens of people posted on Elmore's Facebook page, sharing photos or begging Elmore to call them in the hopes he had survived. Elmore had been a friend of Vincent Winkfield, a 28-year-old man killed in August, some wrote.
"I'm in total shock right now," wrote one woman, who said she had been at the hospital when Elmore was born. "I can't believe that you're not here anymore."
No one was in custody.
