CHICAGO — Shootings have killed one person and wounded five since Saturday, police said.

• At 9:50 a.m. Saturday, a man was shot to death in University Village.

In non-fatal shootings:

• At 1:40 a.m. Sunday, a 21-year-old man was shot in West Ridge, police said.

Police responded to a call of a "person shot" and found the man lying in an alley in the 5600 block of North Western Avenue, police said.

The man was shot in the head and was taken to St. Francis Hospital in critical condition, police said.

Umair Ullah, of the 1700 block of Highland Avenue, was later pronounced dead, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

• At midnight, a 33-year-old man was shot in Portage Park, police said. The man was in a home in the 4900 block of West Roscoe Street when a verbal argument with another man escalated and the other man pulled out a gun and shot him, police said.

The man was hit in the buttocks and took himself to Loyola Hospital where he was in good condition, police said.

• At 11 p.m., a 24-year-old man was shot in Lawndale, police said.

The man was traveling southbound in a vehicle in the 800 block of South California Avenue when another vehicle pulled alongside and someone inside fired shots in his direction, police said.

The man was hit in the left hand and was treated at Rush Hospital, where his condition was not available but he was listed as "stable," police said.

• At 9:25 p.m., a 17-year-old boy was shot in Hyde Park, police said. The boy was walking in the 5300 block of South Maryland Avenue when a person in a passing vehicle fired shots, police said.

The boy was hit in both hands and taken to Comer Children's Hospital, where his condition was not available but he was listed as "stable," police said.

• Earlier Saturday at 2:45 p.m., a 25-year-old man was shot in Beverly, police said.

The man was driving in the 10300 block of South Western Avenue when someone opened fire, police said.

The man was hit in the arm and took himself to Metro-South Hospital, where his condition was not available but he was listed as "stable," police said.

No one was in custody in these shootings, police said.
