LOGAN SQUARE — Neighbors near a Logan Square shooting say a clash between a man and a group of teens started as a fight near the 606 trail and escalated at the man's home, where he allegedly fired at them.

No one was injured in the incident, which occurred about 1:35 p.m. Monday in the 1800 block of North Spaulding Avenue, police said.

Neighbors said the fight was between a group of seven to 10 teenage boys and a man who lives in a modern loft building steps away from the 606. Apart from two large loft buildings, the quiet block is lined with vintage flats.

According to neighbors, the boys and the man got into a physical fight near the trail. A short time later, the boys ran to the loft building where the man lives and started pounding on the glass, the neighbors said. The pounding prompted the man to fire a shot to "scare" the boys away, a neighbor said.

Police on Tuesday said they were questioning a 39-year-old man in connection with the shooting.

Neighbors Tuesday said they were disturbed by the violence.

"I hope this fight doesn't carry over and continue," one said.
