Shootings Kill 3 People, Wound 8 Since Friday, Police Say

CHICAGO — Shootings have killed three people and wounded eight since Friday, police said.

In fatal shootings:

• At about 9:40 p.m. Friday, a 15-year-old boy was shot dead in Auburn Gresham.

Police found the boy in an alley in the 8100 block of South Bishop Street, police said. He was shot in the head and pronounced dead at the scene. The shooting is being investigated as a possible "gang related incident," police said.

The boy was identified as Gregory Livingston III, of the 7700 block of South Throop, in Cook County Medical Examiner's Office records.

• At 1:54 p.m., one man was killed and another man wounded in a shooting during a robbery in Chatham, police said.

A 23-year-old man was walking in the 8200 block of South Ingleside Avenue when another man approached him and demanded his property. A "physical altercation ensued," police said, shots were fired and both men were hit.

The 23-year-old was hit in his hip and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was listed as "stable," police said. The robber was hit in the head and pronounced dead. A weapon was recovered, police said.

• At 12:25 p.m., a 19-year-old man was shot to death in West Garfield Park, police said.

A 33-year-old man went to meet the 19-year-old in the 4800 block of West Ferdinand Street after the 33-year-old purchased an item from a website, police said. The 19-year-old was armed and announced a robbery and the two men fought. Shot were fired and hit the 19-year-old in the chest.

The 19-year-old, identified as Carlos James by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

In non-fatal shootings:

• Most recently, at 3:15 a.m. Saturday two men were shot in Hanson Park, police said.

A 22-year-old man was in the 2200 block of North Latrobe Avenue when he was approached by two men and shots were fired, police said. He was hit in his lower back and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition was not available but he was listed as "stable," police said. The man was a documented gang member, police said. 

A 37-year-old driving past was shot in his left thigh and taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital where he was listed as "stable," police said. According to the Tribune, the man is a driver for Uber and had dropped off a customer.

• At 3:04 a.m., a 35-year-old man was shot in Gage Park, police said.

The man was driving a vehicle in the 5600 block of South Albany Avenue when shots were fired and he was hit in the head, police said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition.

The man was a documented gang member, police said. 

• At 7:30 p.m. Friday, a 33-year-old man was shot in Englewood, police said. The man was walking in the 700 block of West 73rd Street when a man with a gun walked up and shot at him.

He was hit in the leg and back and was taken to Christ Medical Center in critical condition, police said.

• At 5:30 p.m., a 22-year-old man was shot in Austin, police said. The man was outside in the 100 block of North Long Avenue when he heard shots and felt pain.

He was hit in his back and taken to West Suburban Hospital where his condition was not available but he was listed as "stable," police said.

The man was a documented gang member, police said.

• At 4:30 p.m., a 25-year-old man was wounded in a shooting in Back of the Yards, police said. The man was driving his vehicle in the 4700 block of South Throop Street when a dark colored vehicle drove up and people from the vehicle exited and fired shots, police said.

The man was hit in his back and was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition, police said.

The man was a documented gang member, police said.

• Earlier Friday, a 23-year-old man was wounded in a shooting in West Pullman, police said. At 10:30 a.m., the man was walking down the street in the 200 block of West 117th Street when he heard shots and felt pain, police said.

The man was hit in his lower left leg and taken to Christ Medical Center in fair condition, police said.

No one was in custody in these shootings.
