CHICAGO — This Saturday is the first night of Hanukkah as well as Christmas Eve.
For Jews (and their friends) looking to hit the town after lighting their menorahs, here are a few things happening around the city on Saturday night.
Laugh and Be Merry. A "Christmas for the Jews" stand-up comedy show stars Joel Chasnoff, John Roy, Aaron Freeman and Adam Burke at City Winery. Tickets are $20 and can be bought online. Doors open at 6 p.m., show starts at 8 p.m. Saturday, 1200 W. Randolph St. in West Loop.
Find Your "Bashert." The annual Matzo Ball dance party for Jewish singles, now in its 30th year and always held on Christmas Eve, will take place at Soundbar. Early bird tickets start at $15 and can be bought online. The party starts at 9 p.m. Saturday, 226 W. Ontario Ave. in River North.
Go On a Pedicab Menorah Parade. The Bucktown Wicker Park Chabad invites the public to celebrate the first night of Hanukkah with a menorah lighting and pedicab parade through the streets. Along with a "towering 15-foot menorah," the fleet of pedicabs will cart revelers around with festive music, hot latkes and donuts. Cost is free; from 7 to 8 p.m. Saturday, starts at 1630 N. Milwaukee Ave. in Bucktown/Wicker Park.
