MCKINLEY PARK — Walk up and grab a slice.

That's the philosophy driving the neighborhood's newest pizza counter: Pizzeria Brandi, 3170 S. Ashland Ave.

Taking over the storefront once home to Mama B's Pizzeria & Baked Goods, Pizzeria Brandi offers all kinds of pie.

The new pizza depot is home to your regular, unpretentious slice.

Regular slices are $3.60 and a slice of deep dish is $4.60. And Pizzeria Brandi is now offering a special: A $9.99 large pizza for pick-up only. The shop will make deliveries on other orders.

For specialty pizzas, prices range from $10.99 for a small (10-inch) Quatro Formaggi (a four-cheese pie baked with mozzarella, ricotta, provolone and parmesan) to $33.99 for a family-sized (18-inch) supreme pizza topped with sausage, pepperoni, bacon, ground beef, mushrooms, onions, green peppers and olives.

One of the best parts about the Pizzeria Brandi experience is you don't have to leave the store with your slice. This spot's counter isn't just for ordering. Here, you can pull up a chair and devour your morsel of greasy, gooey goodness immediately.

Brandi's menu also includes pizza puffs, lasagna, double-baked chicken Alfredo and wings. A half-dozen wings cost $5.99. A party order of 50 runs $48.99.

To wash down your meal, you might consider a bottle of Filbert's. The counter's drink case is stocked with the neighborhood pop made at a factory down the road.

Pizzeria Brandi opens in McKinley Park After nine years at its original South Loop location, 67 E. Cermak Road. Owner Giulio Spizzirri closed the pizzeria there to make way for Rylon's Smokehouse, another restaurant he owns with several business partners. A partner behind La Cantina Grill, 1911 S. Michigan Ave., Spizzirri once owned The Velvet Lounge.

The move to McKinley Park was an easy decision for owners to make. Over the last decade, larger pizza chains like Giordano's, Aurelio's and Lou Malnati's moved into the South Loop, where the pizzeria served neighborhood folks for almost a decade.

"I figured I’d move west a little bit," he told DNAinfo Chicago in October. "I don’t want to have something that the guy next door has."
