MCKINLEY PARK — A new pizzeria is moving to the neighborhood.

It's called Brandi Pizza, and the owner hopes to open for business across the street from Mariano's at 3170 S. Ashland Ave. by the end of October. The pizzeria will move into a now vacant storefront once home to Mama B's Pizzeria & Baked Goods:

"It’s going to be stuff not many people have," said Giulio Spizzirri, the 39-year-old owner.

Over the last decade, larger pizza chains like Giordano's, Aurelio's and Lou Malnati's moved into the South Loop, where Brandi served neighborhood folks for almost a decade. The competition made the decision to move to McKinkley Park an easy one, Spizzirri said.

"I figured I’d move west a little bit," he said. "I don’t want to have something that the guy next door has."

After nine years, the pizza and wings joint closed its original restaurant at 67 E. Cermak Road to make way for Rylon's Smokehouse, another restaurant Spizzirri owns with several business partners. A partner behind La Cantina Grill, 1911 S. Michigan Ave., Spizzirri once owned The Velvet Lounge, 67 E. Cermak Road.

Brandi Pizza will be open from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. seven days a week. Here's a look at pizza prices:
