LOGAN SQUARE — Ald. Joe Moreno (1st) will deliver a "State of the Ward" address next week.

The event will be held Dec. 29 at Weegee's Lounge, 3659 W. Armitage Ave., from 6-9 p.m.

Moreno is expected to talk about everything from schools and affordable housing to crime and politics — all as it pertains to the 1st Ward, which includes parts of Logan Square, Humboldt Park, Wicker Park, Ukrainian Village, West Town and Noble Square.

The Shakespeare Police District's new commander, Fabian A. Saldana, will also be there to talk about the CAPS program and local crime.

The event is designed to give 1st Ward residents a chance to ask the aldermen questions about their neighborhood and their block, as well as suggest ideas for the future of the area.

Moreno was appointed to the City Council by Mayor Richard M. Daley in 2010 before being elected in 2011, winning 74 percent of the vote.
