Austin Man, 64, Dies Days After Being Shot, Police Say

CHICAGO — A 64-year-old man shot last week in North Lawndale has died, according to police. 

At 6:25 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7. the man was driving in the 1300 block of South Komensky Avenue when someone outside the car fired shots.

The man was hit in his head and taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, police said.

He died at 11 p.m. Friday at Stroger, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office. The man was identified by the office as Otis Hatchett, of the 100 block of North Menard Avenue in Austin.

Hatchett was shot on the same North Lawndale block where 52-year-old Sylvester Rainge had been killed the night before, police said.

Police originally said Hatchett was 54.

No arrests have been made.
