CHICAGO — A 24-year-old Ashburn is facing criminal charges after he stole a car with a 3-year-old girl in it Saturday in Marquette Park, police said.

At 12:50 p.m. Saturday, Oscar Cervantes Jr. walked up to a 26-year-old woman who was unloading stuff from her car in the 7100 block of South Sawyer Avenue and stole her 2007 Nissan Sentra with the girl still inside, police said.

He drove off, and later left the child unharmed in the 6600 block of South Fairfield Avenue, police said.

Cook County Sheriff's officers found Cervantes driving the stolen car in the 3100 block of West Columbus Avenue. He was arrested and turned over to Chicago Police, the department said.

Cervantes, of the 3700 block of West 75th Place, has been charged with one count of receiving or possessing a stolen vehicle, one count of driving on a revoked license, one count of child endangerment and one count of possession of marijuana.

He was held in lieu of $90,000 bail in his first court appearance Sunday, according to the Chicago Tribune.
