LOGAN SQUARE — Get ready to say goodbye to free Sunday parking on Milwaukee Avenue.

On Thursday, the City Council's Committee on Pedestrian and Traffic Safety approved a measure introduced by Ald. Joe Moreno (1st) that would bring paid Sunday parking to Milwaukee Avenue between Western and Sacramento avenues.

The measure still needs approval from the full City Council.

In 2014, Mayor Rahm Emanuel revised the notorious parking-meter deal, swapping longer weekday hours for free Sunday parking.

But he reinstated paid Sunday parking in some neighborhoods when a group of alderman argued that free Sunday parking hurts merchants.
