COOK COUNTY CRIMINAL COURTHOUSE — A man was held without bail Friday in the murder of 25-year-old Justin Bowman.

Accused gunman Alfredo Ramos, 24, and Bowman "have no known relationship," Assistant State's Attorney Bryan Grissman said during a bond hearing Friday.

Bowman was walking with three friends in the 3600 block of West Schubert Avenue on April 24 when Ramos was dropped off in a black Hyundai and started following the group, prosecutors said.

Ramos is accused of pulling out a gun and firing multiple rounds toward the group. He then paused, prosecutors said, and fired several additional shots.

Bowman was fatally shot in his chest and pronounced dead at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

Ramos got back into the Hyundai and left the scene, Grissman said. Three witnesses were later able to identify Ramos as the shooter.

He was arrested this week and charged with first-degree murder.

Cook County Judge Adam Bourgeois Jr. on Friday denied Ramos bail.
