LOGAN SQUARE — A 25-year-old man was found dead on a Logan Square street Sunday, police said.

At 6:23 p.m., police found him unresponsive in the 3600 block of West Schubert Avenue, said Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago Police Department spokeswoman.

He was later identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office as Justin T. Bowman of the 3900 block of West Diversey Avenue.

He had been shot in the chest.

Bowman was taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital, where he pronounced dead at 7:07 p.m. Sunday.

Larry Nazimek said he was sitting in his home on Monticello Avenue near Schubert Sunday evening when he heard "two bursts of three" gunshots and came out to see a scrum of police officers laying evidence markers.

Nazimek added that he hears gunshots near his home "every couple weeks," but most don't leave people dead or wounded.

"A lot of times people will hear something and call the cops, but if no one's hurt and there are no casings left on the ground, there's just nothing they can do," he said.

No one is in custody for the shooting, Pacheco said.
