DEPAUL — A man on the DePaul University campus reported being threatened on the street by a man wielding a knife Friday.

The university put out a campus public safety alert at 4:40 p.m.

According to the alert, the man reporting the incident activated a university callbox at 2:30 p.m. The man reported he had noticed the alleged offender following a woman "and possibly bothering her," so he followed as well "to make sure everything was fine."

The alert stated that, at some point, the alleged offender noticed the man tailing him "and an argument ensued at which time the offender threatened the male."

According to the man, it took place at 2345 N. Kenmore Ave. The man reported seeing the other man holding a knife.

"The offender then left the area and no one was injured," according to the alert.

DePaul said the incident had been reported to Chicago Police, who are investigating. Police did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

The university asks that anyone with additional information on the incident should call the Office of Public Safety at 773-325-7777.
