2 Dead, 8 Wounded In Shootings Since Tuesday, Police Say

CHICAGO — Two people were killed and eight others were wounded in shootings on the South and West sides Tuesday, according to police.

Around noon, a man was killed and a 21-year-old woman wounded in a Humboldt Park shooting, police said.

The day's second homicide came at 4:30 p.m. in North Lawndale, where a man was shot to death, police said.

In other shootings:

• At 9:20 p.m., a 49-year-old man was shot in East Garfield Park, police said.

The man was on the sidewalk in the 300 block of North St. Louis Avenue when he was shot in his arm and chest, police said. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in serious condition.

• At 6:58 p.m., a 30-year-old man was shot in East Garfield Park, police said.

The man was in a car in the 2800 block of West Wilcox Street when somebody in a dark-colored car began firing. He was struck in his back and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was not released but police considered him to be stable.

• At 6:50 p.m., a 27-year-old man was shot in Austin, police said.

The man was outside in the 5700 block of West Augusta Boulevard when a car drove up and began firing, police said. He was struck in his hip and back and was taken to West Suburban Hospital, where his condition was not released but police considered him to be stable.

• At 6:12 p.m., an 18-year-old man was shot in Back of the Yards, police said.

He was leaving a house in the 4500 block of South Marshfield Avenue when he was shot in the leg and was taken to UIC Hospital, where his condition was not released but police considered him to be stable.

• At 4:56 p.m., a 22-year-old man was shot in Auburn Gresham, police said.

He was driving in the 8700 block of South Racine Avenue when someone in a car trailing behind him began firing, police said. The man was struck in his legs and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in what police were referring to as "stable" condition.

After a car crash at 95th Street and Vincennes Avenue, police took two men into custody in connection with the shooting, police said.

• At 2:56 p.m., a 33-year-old man was shot in Marquette Park, police said.

• At 2:05 p.m., a 35-year-old man was shot in North Lawndale, police said.
