Shootings Kill 1, Wound 5 Since Monday, Police Say

CHICAGO — A 37-year-old man was killed and 5 people were wounded in shootings since Monday, police said.

• At 2:05 p.m. Monday, a 37-year-old man was shot dead in Austin, police said.

In non-fatal shootings:

• At 1:14 a.m. Tuesday, a 16-year-old boy and a 22-year-old man were shot in Gresham, police said.

They were sitting in a parked vehicle in the 7900 block of South Damen Avenue when they got into an argument with people in another car, police said. Both exchanged gunfire.

The boy was hit in his back and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in stable condition, police said. The man was his in his leg and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in stable condition.

Both victims are documented gang members, police said.

• At 9:50 p.m. Monday, a 26-year-old man was shot in Austin, police said.

He was walking on the sidewalk in the 1700 block of North Monitor Avenue when two men walked up to him and fired shots, police said.

He was hit in his left leg and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in stable condition, police said.

• At 7:55 p.m., a 24-year-old man was shot in Greater Grand Crossing, police said.

He was driving in the 400 block of West 76th Street when he heard shots and felt pain to his hand, police said.

He then took himself to the Gresham District police station, where he was given medical attention, police said. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in good condition.

• At 6:59 a.m., a 16-year-old boy was shot on his way to school in Ashburn, police said.

No one was in custody.
