AUSTIN — Lafayette Montgomery, 37, was killed in a shooting in Austin on Monday, officials said. 

At 2:05 p.m., the man was in a car in the 1700 block of North Long Avenue when someone in a beige car pulled up and fired shots, police said. 

The man, who was shot in the head and left arm, was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where he was listed in serious condition, police said. 

Montgomery, of the 4800 block of West Potomac, was pronounced dead at 5:15 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

No one is in custody for the shooting, police said.

The man was a documented gang member, police sources said.
