Unique Logan Square Gifts: Wool Blanket, Marble Cheese Board And More

By Mina Bloom | December 5, 2016 5:34am

LOGAN SQUARE — Whether you're looking for a holiday gift for your brother (booze from Chicago Distilling Company), or your boss (cute mug from Steel Petal Press), neighborhood businesses have you covered.

We rounded up some gift ideas at various price points in or around Logan Square. In no particular order, here they are:

Pretty Bath Products, Marble Cheese Boards At Fleur

Pamper your mom with non-toxic beauty and bath products from Herbivore Botanicals. Popular flower and gift shop, Fleur, at 2651 N. Milwaukee Ave., carries an array of products from the Seattle-based brand, including coco rose body polish ($36), soaking bath salts ($18) and blue clay soap ($12). Bonus: The beautifully-designed bottles look amazing on a bathroom shelf.

Since it's too difficult to choose just one gift from Fleur, we're also a big fan of the shop's Aragon round marble cheese boards ($34.95-49.95), which are sure to impress the aspiring cook in your life.

Local Artist's 'How To Drink Less' Zine And LaCroix Art Print

With so many artists living in Logan Square, it's hard to choose just one to support during the holidays. But we think your bestie will dig Sarah Gardiner's LaCroix print ($10) and "How To Drink Less" zine ($6). The watercolor illustrations are rad and the price is right.

Locally-Made Booze From Chicago Distilling Company

We love the idea of giving out-of-towners a taste of home. Chicago Distilling Company, 2359 N. Milwaukee Ave., sells gift packs of three 200ml flask-sized bottles that allow you try a variety of spirits like Ceres Vodka, Finn's Gin and Dunkel Whiskey. The packs range from $29.99 - $49, depending on the type of spirits included.

Cheeky Cards, Cute Mugs And Boozy Candles At Steel Petal Press

Steel Petal Press, 2321 N. Milwaukee Ave., is a great neighborhood spot to buy little gifts for people like your boss or your boyfriend's mom, for example. We especially like the "Christmas Pizza" card ($5), adventure-themed mugs ($11-12) and boozy candles ($7).

Warm Stylish Hats From Felt

Gifts that are both practical and stylish are a slam dunk in our book. We recommend the soft winter hats with poms from women's boutique Felt, 2317 N. Milwaukee Ave. Made by Love Knitz, the cashmere hats each cost $245 and come in a variety of colors.

Wool Blanket, Match Holders And Dog Leash From Humboldt House

OK, so we know Humboldt House, 1045 N. California Ave., isn't in Logan Square. But this trendy home goods store is overflowing with gift items, from Kilim pillows to 1970s-inspired wall hangings.

We especially like the wool blankets imported from Guatemala made by Maya Mueble ($200), ceramic match stick holders by Julia Finlayson of Grandmont Street ($36-46) and bright dog leashes by Notyers ($35-40).
