Shootings Kill 2 People, Wound 9 Since Saturday, Police Say

CHICAGO — Two people have been killed and at least 9 wounded in shootings since Saturday, police said.

• At 3:07 a.m. Sunday, a 23-year-old man was fatally shot and two other men were wounded in a Greater Grand Crossing shooting, police said.

• At 1:57 a.m., a 22-year-old man was shot dead in Englewood, police said.

In non-fatal shootings:

• At 3:07 a.m., a 29-year-old man was shot in North Lawndale, police said.

The man was standing on the sidewalk in the 1200 block of South Avers Avenue when he heard shots and pain, police said.

He was hit in his face and arms and took himself to Mount Sinai Hospital in stable condition, police said.

The man was a documented gang member, police said.

• At 11:30 p.m. Saturday, an 18-year-old man and a 17-year-old teen were shot in Hermosa, police said.

They were walking westbound in the 400 block of West Cortland Street when someone approached them from behind and fired shots, police said.

The 18-year-old was grazed in his back and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in stable condition, police said. The teen was hit in his back and taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition.

The shooting appears to be gang related, police said.

• At 4:17 p.m., a 27-year-old man was shot in Little Village, police said.

• At 2:38 p.m., a 32-year-old man was shot in Marquette Park, police said.

The man was standing by a vehicle in the 6500 block of South Talman Avenue when a masked man exited a gray SUV and fired shots before driving off in the SUV northbound on Talman Avenue, police said.

He was hit in his left arm and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition, police said.

The man was a documented gang member and convicted felon, police said.

• At 1:56 p.m., an 18-year-old man was shot in Greater Grand Crossing, police said.

The man was being uncooperative with the investigation, but told police he was in the alley in the 7100 block of South Ingleside Avenue when he heard shots and felt pain, police said.

He was hit in his right foot and was taken to University of Chicago Medicine in good condition, police said.

• At 1:05 p.m., a 23-year-old man was shot in Englewood, police said.

The man was shot inside a home in the 6400 block of South Peoria Street, police said.

He was hit in his abdomen and was taken to Stroger Hospital where he is listed in serious condition, police said.

The shooting appears to be a self-inflicted, police said.

• At 7:25 a.m., a 60-year-old woman possibly sustained a graze wound from a shooting in South Shore, police said.

The woman was standing on the street in the 2000 block of East 71st Street, when a vehicle pulled up and someone inside fired shots at a group of men standing nearby, police said.

The woman was taken to Jackson Park Hospital by an acquaintance, and was treated and released.

Police later said that medical personnel was unable to determine if the scratch on the woman's face was caused by a bullet or other debris.

No one was in custody in these shootings.
