LOGAN SQUARE —  Celebrate the upcoming 83rd anniversary of the repeal of Prohibition with gin drinks galore.

Scofflaw, 3201 W. Armitage Ave., is turning into a speakeasy to celebrate the anniversary beginning at 5 p.m. Monday.

The gin-focused cocktail bar promises a drink menu with "riffs on cocktails specifically from that area" and a special food item inspired by Prohibition, the period in United States history when alcohol was illegal, from 1920 to 1933.

During that time, people opened secret watering holes, dubbed speakeasies, and gangsters who have become synonymous with Chicago crime like Al Capone ran amok in the city.

The ban was repealed on Dec. 5, 1933, when the 21st Amendment was ratified.
