CHICAGO — That chill in the air means fall is on the way out — and with it, the city's leaf pickup service.

The last day for residents to call 311 to get lawn debris hauled away is Wednesday, officials said.

Bagged leaves and yard waste should be left in your alley or at your curb and should be separated from garbage. The waste will be gathered by Streets and Sanitation workers and composted.

The department will continue street sweeping operations through the fall, officials said, but they encourage residents to keep curb lanes and storm drains clear of leaves.
