WICKER PARK — On the heels of Thanksgiving come two more holidays: "Black Friday" and "Small Business Saturday."
Here are our picks for ways to get your shopping on in the neighborhood this weekend.
Score Free Coffee and Doughnuts, Look For A Party Dress. On Friday, fab'rik boutique will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m and everything in the store will be 30 percent off. On Saturday, the shop's hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., with 20 percent off all items. And early bird customers on Saturday will enjoy doughnuts, coffee and swag bags at the shop at 1543 N. Milwaukee Ave.
Celebrate The Neighborhood-Wide Chill Fest. The start of holiday shopping in Wicker Park and Bucktown will have its own soundtrack, thanks to more than 60 local musicians scheduled to perform free shows in 19 stores, bars and restaurants as part of the fourth annual "ChillFest." The free acoustic shows take place from 2 to 6 p.m. on Saturday. Check out the map and lineup.
Find Handmade Stocking Stuffers. Hi-Style Furniture's holiday pop-up shop launches on Friday and ends the first week of January. Vendors will offer locally-made candles, leather-bound journals, original art and more. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday and Saturday, 1343 N. Milwaukee.
Give the Gift Of a Flu Shot To A Child in A Developing Country. Before you brave the shopping crowds, consider getting a flu shot. Now, through Nov. 29, for every flu shot administered, the Walgreens pharmacy in Bucktown/Logan Square will donate the value of two vaccinations to children in developing countries through its "Get a Shot. Give a Shot" initiative. Visit the pharmacy at 2001 W. Armitage Ave., open 24 hours.
Go Stone Hunting, Get Your "Aura" Cleansed. Looking for a crystal pendant you can't find anywhere else? A trunk show at Shaman's Dreams will help gift buyers find the right stones, with tarot readings and aura cleansings also on tap. From noon to 8 p.m. Saturday, Sideshow Gallery, 2219 N. Western Ave.
Shop for Warm Sweaters, Dresses. Moon Voyage boutique, behind Urban Belly and kitty corner from Big Star, will celebrate Small Business Saturday by marking all full-priced clothes 20 percent off. Hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, 2010 W. Pierce Ave.
