LOGAN SQUARE — A fire broke out in a residential building in Logan Square Friday afternoon.

Around 12:35 p.m., emergency officials responded to a fire at a two-story building in the 2500 block of North Fairfield Avenue, according to Chicago Fire Department Cmdr. Walter Schroeder.

Schroeder said no one was injured in the blaze.

Neighbors on the scene said the fire appeared to have been caused by a welding accident. Workers with welding equipment were seen on the front porch before the fire erupted.

Schroeder couldn't confirm that information. He said an investigation is ongoing.
