Bears Are Complete Garbage In This Legendary Mannequin Challenge

By Justin Breen | November 22, 2016 6:05am

CHICAGO — The Bears are complete garbage, according to a viral Mannequin Challenge Facebook video from Phil Mack.

Mack, a Rosemoor native and University of Illinois graduate, posted a video of a dumpster filled with garbage dubbed "Bears Mannequin Challenge" on Monday afternoon. The video quickly went viral, amassing more than 430,000 page views by Monday night.

"I never thought that I would get this many shares, views and likes," Mack said. "I've got people texting and inboxing me telling me that they're seeing my video all over Facebook. ... The recurring theme is from diehard Bears fans that don't want to laugh but can't help but find the humor in the video."

The Bears are 2-8 this season, and they've been decimated by injuries and numerous players who have failed drug tests. Their starting quarterback, Jay Cutler, could be out for the season with a shoulder injury.

"I'm a Bears fan for life," Mack said. "The last few years have been tough, but I like finding humor in the fact that the Bears haven't been able to get it together. I'm still going to watch their games, even if they aren't competitive, especially if I can keep posting things that make people laugh so that they forget about their pain."

Most Mannequin Challenges, like a recent video starring a good portion of Lane Tech's student body at a basketball game, feature large groups of people gathering and standing in place.

Mack instead used stationary garbage bags and other rubbish for his "mannequins" to represent the Bears' players, coaches and management.

"I saw a dumpster in the parking lot of my office when I got to work [Monday] morning, and took it from there," said Mack, an insurance agent in suburban South Holland.
