Chinatown Stabbings Lead To Murder, Battery Charges For Man, Police Say

CHICAGO — A man has been charged in stabbings that left one man dead and two others wounded Monday in Chinatown, police said.

About 7:30 p.m., the men were stabbed in the 200 block of West 23rd Street, according to a Chicago Police news release. A 50-year-old man was stabbed multiple times throughout his body and taken to Northwestern Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A 23-year-old man was stabbed in his groin and was at Stroger Hospital in serious condition, and a 44-year-old man was stabbed in his face and head and was at Stroger Hospital, police said.

Raul Gonzalez, 37, of the 200 block of West 23rd Street, has been charged with murder and two counts of aggravated battery, police said. He was arrested at 4 a.m. Tuesday.

Gonzalez was scheduled to appear in bond court on Wednesday.
