Afghan Crafts For Sale At Holiday Bazaars In Hyde Park

HYDE PARK — Two Hyde Park churches are holding holiday bazaars this weekend with handmade items from Afghanistan.

First Unitarian and University Church will sell tapestries, rugs, jewelry and other items made in Afghanistan to support the Afghan Women’s Collective nonprofit.

The holiday bazaar will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday at First Unitarian Church, 5650 S. Woodlawn Ave.

From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday the holiday bazaar will move to neighboring University Church, 5655 S. University Ave.

The sale will be held in the library of each church.

First Unitarian will open the sale on Friday with a screening of a documentary by Kathleen Foster about the lives of women in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Entry to the sale is free and open to the public.
