DOWNTOWN — Thanksgiving is right around the corner and the people of Chicago have spoken: We want stuffing on our tables but green beans can take a hike.

Stuffing is the runaway favorite in a poll of favorite Thanksgiving side dishes, hosted by the Chicago Public Library.

Mac 'n' cheese is a distant second, followed closely by mashed potatoes.

In a shocking turn of events, cranberries are not — repeat, not — bringing up the rear. That dubious honor goes to green beans, which clearly have an image problem.

Voting is still open here.

The poll helps alert readers to the library system's collection of cookbooks.
