Bronzeville Robberies Lead To Warning From Police

CHICAGO — Police ae warning Bronzeville residents to be on the lookout after a string of robberies in the area.

At least three people have been robbed in the neighborhood since Nov. 1, police said in a community alert.

In the incidents, a man walks up to people on the sidewalk or street and demands their belongings, police said. In one instance, the robber threatened to shoot the victim but did not pull out a gun, police said.

The robberies occurred:

• 1:45 p.m. Nov. 1 in the 3300 block of South Giles Avenue

• 1:20 p.m. Nov. 2 in the 3300 block of South Prairie Avenue

• Between 3-8 p.m. Nov. 3 in the 400 block of East 33rd Street

Police have described the robber as a black male between 15-25 years old, standing 5-foot-8, weighing between 140 and 150 pounds with brown eyes and a dark complexion.
