LOGAN SQUARE — One of the last weekends of fall is upon us.

Instead of staying in and dreading the impending cold weather, we recommend taking advantage of one of the neighborhood's many weekend events while it's still relatively nice out.

Here are some of our picks:

Drink cocktails with vermouth at Best Intentions: Celebrate "Vermouth Week"yes, it's a thing — at the neighborhood bar, 3281 W. Armitage Ave., Friday evening. Folks from a pair of distilleries — Rutte and Winebow — will be there serving free sample cocktails (with vermouth, of course) and appetizers.

"Come, put a little distance between yourself and all the heavy handedness that surrounds us these days," the bar wrote on Facebook.

Busy Beaver's button-o-matic release party: Now's your chance to check out the button company's new, much larger digs 3407 W. Armitage Ave. Busy Beaver is throwing a party beginning at 5 p.m. Friday. There will be craft cocktails from Parce Rum, beer from Off Color Brewing and button artists on hand to talk about their creations. Plus, Busy Beaver's new coin-operated button vending machine, or button-o-matic, will be on full display.

See "Star Trek" at the Logan Theatre: Head to the Logan to see "Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan" (1982) on the big screen at 11 p.m. Friday, Saturday or Sunday. It's part of the theater's "Nerdy November" movie series. Tickets can be bought online.

Drink out of a boot mug at The General: There are no boot mugs at Christkindlmarket this year, but there are cowboy boot mugs at The General, 2528 N. California Ave. if that's any consolation. The neighborhood bar is serving craft beer off its "Local 12" list in cowboy boot-shaped mugs.

Learn about artist-run spaces at Comfort Station: Artists and wannabe artists alike are welcome to join a conversation about artist-run spaces at Comfort Station, 2579 N. Milwaukee Ave., from 3-6 p.m. Sunday.
