DUNNING — For anyone on who can't make it all the way Downtown for Friday's Cubs victory parade and rally, have a slice of cheesecake to make up for it.
After the success of its "pep rally" last month, Eli's Cheesecake, 6701 W. Forest Preserve Drive, will once again offer free slices in observance of the Cubs' historic feat.
Between 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday and between 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, each visitor can pick up one free slice of the bakery's original plain cheesecake, topped with strawberry sauce and a "W" flag.
"Our view has always been that we're very supportive of the Cubs, and since they've done such a historic act, why not let people take advantage?" Schulman said Thursday.
Other desserts will be sold at a sharp discount, marked down to $1.08 or $10.80 from their normal prices.
Bakers were hard at work Thursday preparing more than 1,000 slices for the occasion, Schulman said.
