CHICAGO — The World Series-bound Cubs have wrapped even the city's bakers in Cubs fever, and Eli's Cheesecake World, 6701 Forest Preserve Drive, is grabbing a piece of the pie.

The bakery is holding a "Cubs Pep Rally" at 11 a.m. Tuesday, and fans everywhere are invited to pick up a free slice of cheesecake and watch professionals create "fun Cubs-inspired baked goods," according to a Monday announcement.

That means cookies and cupcakes with Cubs baseballs, "W" flags and "Let's Go Cubbies" in red-and-blue frosting.

They'll also be baking a massive 6-pound slice of plain cheesecake, topped with 1.5 pounds of cherries and chocolate-covered strawberries. It will be enough to serve 25 people, bakers say.

Adding energy to the event will be the Ridgewood High School Cheer and Pom Squads, who will be cheering on the bakers in Cubs attire.

The Cubs and Wrigley Field are 95 percent owned by an entity controlled by a trust established for the benefit of the family of Joe Ricketts, owner and CEO of DNAinfo.com. Joe Ricketts has no direct involvement in the management of the iconic team.
