NORTH CENTER — Here's a must-have accessory for every dyed-in-the-wool Cubs fan: a hand-knit scarf or hat, made from wool dyed in a color dubbed "Go Cubs."

Beth Casey, owner of Ravenswood-based Lorna's Laces, 4229 N. Honore St., created the hand-dyed yarn exclusively for North Center's Knit 1, which sold out of its first order in less than two days.

"We literally made it on Friday, no one else has it," said Amanda Jarvis, Lorna's Laces manager.

Knit 1 owner Lynn Coe said she doubled her second order, due in the shop Wednesday.

An experienced knitter could have a scarf ready to wear (or give as a gift) by Game 4 on Saturday, Coe said.

"It's great for hats and mittens," Jarvis added.

With both Lorna's Laces and Knit 1, 3856 N. Lincoln Ave., situated a "stone's throw from Wrigley," Jarvis said it made sense to collaborate on a Cubs-themed item.

"I think it's neat to see a bunch of hometown businesses make something special for such a special occasion," she said.

Skeins are $21 each for worsted weight and $24 for sock weight.
