Rahm Catches A Catfish As New Section Of Riverwalk Opens

By Kelly Bauer | October 22, 2016 3:02pm

CHICAGO — Mayor Rahm Emanuel helped celebrate the opening of the Chicago Riverwalk's final stretch by going fishing.

The newly finished third portion of the Chicago Riverwalk stretches from LaSalle to Lake streets. It opened Saturday morning, and Emanuel was on hand to help with celebrations. He even managed to catch a catfish during the morning, according to a post from the mayor's Twitter handle.

The river was once infamous for its pollution, but in recent years it's been cleaned up and is now home to a variety of fish.
