NORTH PARK — The first-ever Food Truck Friday kicks off this week in North Park.

Porkchop and Aztec Dave's food trucks are confirmed for the event, designed as an opportunity for community members to meet and mingle in the neighborhood. Organizers hope to make it a recurring meet-up for food truck lovers.

Northeastern Illinois University is hosting the gathering in parking lot D (see map), 3701 W. Bryn Mawr Ave., 4-6 p.m.

Limited seating is available, and attendees are encouraged to BYO chair if needed.

To keep the community vibe going, plan a second stop at Peterson Elementary's International Night, also set for Friday, 5:30-8 p.m., 5510 N. Christiana Ave.

The event, which celebrates the school's cultural diversity, features food, music, performances and a cultural fashion parade. Admission is free; food tickets cost $1 each, with most items priced between $1 and $3.
