LOGAN SQUARE — We get it: There's almost nothing better than spending Halloween at home watching horror movies and handing out candy to trick-or-treaters.

But dressing up and venturing out of the house — before Halloween or on the day itself — is a different kind of fun, and one you should embrace because there are tons of unique ways to celebrate in Logan Square and the surrounding area.

Beloved cocktail bar Weegee's Lounge is dressing up as the Black Lodge from "Twin Peaks," Comfort Station is hosting a Halloween-themed live drawing, and The Logan Theatre is screening horror movies like "Night Of The Living Dead" — and those are just a few examples.

Oh, and we already compiled some Chicago-inspired costume ideas for you. Now you have no excuse.

Here's a handful of events that caught our eye:

• Live drawing at Comfort Station: Illustrator Rachal Duggan will be creating "Halloween-themed" drawings on request at Comfort Station, 2579 N. Milwaukee Ave., from 2:30-4:30 p.m. Oct. 30. We're not even entirely sure what that means, but the "special Halloween menu" (Witch Portrait, Zombie Portrait, Ghost Fart Butt Portrait) was enough to pique our interest.

• "Twin Peaks"-themed party: David Lynch fans won't want to miss this one. The cocktail bar Weegee's Lounge, 3659 W. Armitage Ave., is completely transforming into the Black Lodge from the TV show "Twin Peaks" beginning at 8 p.m. Oct. 29.

Patrons are encouraged to dress up as characters from the surrealist show: "You don't have to be an actual person. You can be a donut. You can be a Sycamore Tree. You can be anything you want to be," the bar wrote on Facebook. The bar promises there will be a costume contest, signature drinks named after the show like "The Agent Cooper" and a "real live Double R Diner" — another haunt from the show.

• Horror movies, costume contest at The Logan Theatre: The movie theater, 2646 N. Milwaukee Ave., is throwing its annual Halloween costume party on Friday. There will be prizes and drink specials. Plus, "Best Costume" wins $250 in gift cards. Stick around after the contest for screenings of "Night Of The Living Dead" and "Beetlejuice."

• Logan Square Halloween parade: The whole family is invited to the neighborhood's 13th annual parade, which is set for 5-7 p.m. Oct. 30. The group will meet at the Illinois Centennial Monument, head south down Kedzie Avenue and then loop around, loop around and end up at Lula Cafe for warm apple cider and fresh cookies. Costumes are encouraged.

• Bilingual story time at Hairpin Arts Center: There are two kid-friendly readings scheduled at the Hairpin Arts Center, 2810 N. Milwaukee Ave., Oct 29 and 30. Puerto Rican poet Luis Tubens will read from "Mi Familia Calaca/My Skeleton Family" and "The Festival of Bones: A Little-Bitty Book for the Day of the Dead" from Cinco Puntos Press. For times, check out the Facebook event page.

• Fall wonderland at Humboldt Park: Humboldt Park is transforming into a fall wonderland from 10 a.m.- 1 p.m. Saturday complete with a pumpkin patch, a bounce house, face painting and treats — all perfect activities for children up to age 12. For more information, visit the Humboldt Park Advisory Council's event page.
