LINCOLN PARK — Police have issued a community alert regarding a string of overnight arsons near the Ranch Triangle area, that date back to February but were renewed 10 days ago.

The fires were all set in the early morning hours, shortly after midnight. They began Feb. 29 with two fires in the 1900 block of North Clifton Street. Two more fires followed in March, one in the 1200 block of West Cortland Avenue and another in the 1700 block of North Kingsbury Street. An additional fire happened in April in the 1000 block of West North Avenue.

The arson suspect was also tied to a fire on Sept. 11 in the 1900 block of North Kingsbury, followed by another fire Oct. 10 in the 1900 block of North Clifton.

The alert identified a single suspect for the seven arsons this year: a white or Hispanic man, 5-foot-8 to 6-foot, weighing 160-180 pounds, and driving a Silver Ford Mustang with body damage on the passenger side.

According to the alert, the fires were all set with improvised incendiary devices such as a Molotov cocktail using inflammable liquids.

The alert advises residents to call 911 to report any suspicious people, cars or activity, and keep the perimeter of their property well lit.
