LOGAN SQUARE — The team behind Longman & Eagle and Parson's Chicken & Fish is cooking up something at the corner of Wrightwood and Lawndale avenues — but what's in store is anyone's guess.

Land and Sea Dept. bought Tony Laundromat, 3656 W. Wrightwood Ave., in November from Sol L. Santos for $390,000, according to county records. The group took out a $494,000 loan to pay for the property, records show.

Since then, a wooden bar or counter has appeared inside. A spokeswoman for Land and Sea said the space is privately leased. She said the bar is the "tenant's own furniture" and "is not intended for public use," but would not provide further information on the project.

City records don't show any construction permits tied to the address. The group also hasn't applied for a business license or a liquor license.

Mimi Simon, a spokeswoman for the city's Department of Buildings, confirmed there are no permits tied to the address.

"When we do begin construction proper, we’ll of course - as we always do - secure the proper permits," the spokeswoman said in an email.

Raz Patel, an employee at Rosie's Food Mart, which is next door at 3652 W. Wrightwood Ave., said workers told him they were building an art studio.

Land and Sea is one of the most well-known restaurant groups in the neighborhood. Past Logan Square projects include the lauded restaurant and inn Longman & Eagle; Parson's Chicken & Fish, which serves up fried chicken and Negroni slushies; as well as tiki bar Lost Lake; and adjoining Chinese takeout spot Thank You Chinese.

Over the last few years, the restaurant group/design studio has been at work transforming the old punk club Ronny's into a bar.
