KENWOOD — It’s not too late to live near the Obama family while they’re still living in Kenwood.

A Victorian home two doors away from the Obama home at 5022 S. Greenwood Ave. has just gone on the market for $2.6 million.

Recent reports say the first family plans to stay in Washington, D.C., for at least a year after President Barack Obama leaves office, but that doesn’t mean the buyer doesn’t get a lot of the perks of living near the president's Chicago home.

“Literally, you can see the Secret Service parked just outside,” said Christian Volpe of RE/MAX Premiere Properties. “It’s got to be the most secure block in the country.”

There are certainly things to like about the house near the president's home.

Designed by Treat and Foltz, it has many of the details that make it part of the Kenwood Landmark District.

The house still has its original leaded glass bay window. Inside, it has Grube fireplace tiles, a dual staircase and original wood floors.

The eight-bedroom house also has a five-car garage with a built-in lift.
