CHICAGO — Gene Williams, 62, was found stabbed to death in an Oakland apartment Saturday, police said.

A friend found Williams unresponsive in an apartment in the 3600 block of South Lake Park Avenue between 4:15 p.m. and 5:15 p.m., according to the Tribune.

Police responded to a call of a stabbing incident and found Williams with head trauma and multiple stab wounds in his stomach, said Officer Bari Lemmon, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

Williams, who lived in the same block he was attacked, was pronounced dead at 5:29 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. An autopsy showed he died from multiple stab wounds in a homicide.

No one was in custody.
