MORGAN PARK — McNally's — a neighborhood bar with a history of poking fun at the Chicago Cubs and their long-suffering fans — is for sale.

But the timing of the sale and the recent success of the North Side baseball team is purely coincidental, according to Rich Fitzgerald of Fitzgerald Real Estate.

The real estate agent representing the family selling the bar at 11136 S. Western Ave. in Morgan Park said the owners are simply ready to retire, having operated McNally's since 1989.

The asking price is $749,000, which includes the building that houses the bar, along with an upstairs party room and four apartments in the rear, Fitzgerald said Thursday.

The apartments are all two-bedroom, one-bath units that are presently occupied. The capacity of the downstairs bar is 65 people, and there's 16,000-square-feet of combined space for the upstairs and downstairs tavern areas.

Fitzgerald also rents an small office upstairs from his client. He pointed out the property is near the Beverly Arts Center, the Morgan Park Sports Center and St. Cajetan Parish.

Besides celebrating the Cubs' shortcomings, McNally's marquee is also used to announce newborn babies, local couples getting married and retirements. Neighborhood sports teams and area fundraisers are also frequently showcased on the sign, Fitzgerald said.
