LOGAN SQUARE — On the last Friday of each month, the artists who make up Startwork Studios open up their space to the public to showcase their work.

The fourth installment is set for Oct. 28 at Startwork, 3323 W. Diversey Ave., from 5 - 9 p.m.

Visitors will be able to buy a wide array of art, ranging from letterpress greeting cards to paintings and photographs, from the studio artists themselves and local artists alike. There will also be snacks and music.

Jill Ruzicka, owner and designer behind letterpress studio Hello Paper Co., moved into Startwork in July.

The studio, which has big windows facing bustling Milwaukee Avenue, functions as Ruzicka's office. It's also where she meets with clients to do custom work, she said.

"It's a great location. It's next to a lot of restaurants and bars, and there's a lot of foot traffic," she said.

Ruzicka designs minimalist greeting cards, art prints and wrapping paper, among other paper goods. She sells her work in local shops, including Fleur, 2651 N. Milwaukee Ave., as well as online.

Originally from suburban Glen Ellyn, Ruzicka went to Washington University in St. Louis before moving to New York to work in publishing. During that time, she was running a letterpress studio on the side.

It wasn't until the beginning of this year that Ruzicka decided to pursue the studio full-time.
