LINCOLN PARK — Lincoln Park is celebrating Halloween with "scarecrows on parade," trick-or-treating, a costume contest and more.

From Oct. 8 - Oct. 31, scarecrows will be on display at businesses on Clark Street between Armitage and Diversey avenues, and on the south side of Diversey Avenue from Orchard Street to Lakeview Avenue, according to the Lincoln Park Chamber of Commerce, which is hosting the events with Clark Street Lincoln Park.

For the first time, students at Francis W. Parker School were asked to design and craft the scarecrows.

Beginning Oct. 8, residents and shoppers are encouraged to vote for their favorite scarecrow by visiting the chamber's website.

There are four categories (Spookiest Scarecrow, Most Creative Scarecrow, Funniest Scarecrow and Favorite Student Scarecrow) and each scarecrow is only eligible to win one category. Voting ends at 2 p.m. Oct. 30.

The winners will be announced Oct. 30 during Clark Street Spooktacular at 2558 N. Clark St.

Before the winners are announced around 3:30 p.m., there will be trick-or treating, magic shows and other family-friendly entertainment from 1-4 p.m. Expect jugglers, stilt walkers and more.

There will also be a costume contest from 2-4 p.m.

For more information, visit the chamber's website.
