CHICAGO — Chicago is the best city in America to enjoy without ever leaving the comforts of your apartment.

Whether our hermit skills were honed during blizzard survival or through Grubhub-fueled Hulu binges, a new study celebrates Chicago for catering to homebodies better than anywhere else in the U.S.

The Windy City was ranked the No. 1 spot for "urban hermits" looking to escape from the world by real estate blog Estately, which considered factors like internet speed, availability of deliverable food and alcohol, home affordability and number of people who work from home.

Out of a possible score of 500, Chicago took the lead with 370 points, unsurprisingly scoring highest in the food and booze categories.

Estately found that at least 631 Grubhub-affiliated restaurants offer food delivery and five alcohol delivery services — Drizly, Saucey, Minibar Delivery, Thirstie and Klink — will bring adult beverages right to your door.

Chicago also got a high score for the number of residents who work from home — 4.3 percent of Chicago's 1.18 million-strong workforce, according to a recent study by DNAinfo Chicago.

And we clocked in at a lower cost of housing per square foot than Austin, Texas and Washington D.C., which ranked second and third, respectively.

Last on the list? Honolulu, Hawaii, meaning Chicago is better for solitude and respite than even an island paradise — at least by the standards of urban hermits.
